Osteopaths treat the cause within the individual not the condition. Osteopaths look at the body as a whole, how one area interacts with another to return your body to a state of physical balance and health. Often patients find that when they have treatment for the primary problem, other issues are also resolved in the process. On many occasions patients do not realise that other secondary issues could be treated using osteopathy; both are usually resolved at the same time once the body is balanced.
The Advertising Standards Agency will only allow osteopaths to advertise that they treat conditions where the efficacy has been proven. Unfortunately the conditions listed are only a small percentage of conditions where patients report significant improvement.
