About the Business

All osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) under the Osteopaths Act (1993). The GOsC is the statutory body responsible for the profession, similar in its role to that performed by the General Medical Council for the medical profession.

It is a criminal offence for an individual to claim to be an osteopath who is not registered with the GOsC. So in a sense, asking or checking if your osteopath is 'registered' these days is no longer necessary, anymore than it would be with a GP!
