I qualified from the British School of Osteopathy in 2005 and worked in well-established clinics across the south of England before moving to Yorkshire in 2014. I decided to become an Osteopath afterreceiving Osteopathic treatment myself. I sustained a low back injury whilst dancing as a teenager, and then later I turned to Osteopathy again to aid recovery from a head and neck injury following a mountain bike crash. On both occasions I made a full and speedy recovery.
Paediatric osteopathy can help babies and young children. Significant change in the body of a child can be achieved using gentle osteopathic techniques. An area of osteopathy that involves a moregentle therapeutic approach is cranial osteopathy. This puts greater importance on the subtle strains and stresses affecting the whole body.
Established in 2004, the team of osteopaths and sport therapists at Castle Clinic have developed a reputation in Knaresborough and Harrogate for excellence and effectiveness in providing advice about, and relieving pain caused by, problems of the musculoskeletal system. The majority of our new patients are personally recommended or referred directly from their GP or consultant.
Osteopathy is classed as primary care which means that you do not need a referral from a GP for treatment. Our training is also focussed on safe treatment, so if for any reason we feel that yourpresenting symptoms may require further investigation or are not appropriate for treatment we will refer you to the appropriate person.
Four out of five Britons will suffer from backache at some time in their lives so it is not surprising that 50% of our patients come to see us because they are suffering from back pain. Spinalmanipulation and mobilisation are recognised as an effective way to manage both chronic and acute low back pain.
The practice has been offering Osteopathic health care to Selby and the surrounding area for over 20 years. During this time the clinic has expanded to such an extent that our current premises becametoo small to accommodate the demand for Osteopathy in the area. Due to this we had to relocate in December 2012 to a larger building on Gowthorpe, the clinic is now known as Selby Wellness Clinic.
